About Us

The understanding AWR blog is brought to you by the Parasol family of companies which are Parasol and contractor accountants ClearSky Accounting.

As a group, we’ve looked after the pay, tax, invoicing and financial affairs of over 40,000 contractors and freelancers in our 10 year history.
Since the introduction of IR35, the changes in business expenses, EAA, the Managed Service Company legislation and other pieces of regulation, Parasol has been able to remain focussed and operate as a true safe haven for contractors, freelancers, agencies and end clients alike.

We are champions of the flexible workforce and believe that Government should further engage with our sector to fully understand this vibrant and dynamic part of the UK economy. A few unscrupulous operators have tarred the whole industry with the same brush, which we believe does a huge disservice to the hundreds of thousands of people who actively choose to work on a temporary basis, enjoying the freedom, flexibility and improved work-life balance that contracting can bring.

To this end, we are proud to be one of the founding members of the FCSA (Freelancer & Contractor Services Association) alongside other industry leaders, Giant and Brookson. The FCSA was established to drive best practise and set the standard for compliance in the contractor services industry and to reassure agencies, and those engaging the services of contractors, that they are dealing with the most compliant service providers in the market. The FSCA also looks to promote recognition of the value that professional contractors add to the UK economy and ensure a fair business environment for them to operate in.

At Parasol we are committed to finding a compliant solution to AWR, not just for ourselves and the rest of the umbrella industry, but for the contractors and agencies we represent.

The understanding AWR blog is the beginning of the journey and we want to hear what you think and what your experiences have been so far. So this is an open invitation to get involved, post your comments, take part in our surveys, or send us an email. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
